Can test questions be imported from text files?
A multiple choice question database can be loaded directly from a text file without cutting and pasting! You can copy and paste text from any text file into test questions.
Can I save questions and use them in future tests?
Yes, all questions are saved in databases which can be accessed at any time for future tests.
What sort of text formatting is available?
Test questions can be fully formatted, much like Microsoft Word. You can choose fonts, font styles, foreground and background color, For math questions you can insert superscripts and symbols such as the division sign.
What type of questions can be created?
The online version includes multiple choice, true/false, fill-the-blanks and single answer questions.
The basic and classroom network versions include multiple choice, true/false, fill-the-blanks and essay questions.
In the classroom network version essay questions can be optionally set up to require exact answers.
For essay questions in printed tests, can I insert space for student answers?
You can choose the amount of empty space and also insert lines with optional spacing.
Can tests be created with questions from different databases??
A test can have mixed questions from any saved databases. You can select random or specific questions from databases.
Can I select the order of test questions?
Test questions can be randomly ordered or placed in a specific order. You can create multiple copies of a test with different orders of questions.
What are the options for fill-the-blanks questions?
There are two options. You can select whether answers are case-sensitive. You can also select whether students will receive partial credit for each correctly filled blank, or whether all blanks must be filled to receive a correct score for the question.
What is the "copycat protection" feature?
In printed tests, you can choose to randomly order the questions for each printed copy. You can also choose to randomly order the answer list for multiple choice questions.
How are tests uploaded to web pages?
After a test is created, there is a Create Internet Test menu selection. Several options are then selected, such as whether the test is to be a Practice test or an Actual test, the font for the webpage, size of pictures, and the path to save test results. Then three Internet files are created and uploaded to your server; an html file which displays the list of available tests, an html file which is the test, and a script file which contains the answers and handles scoring and saving tests. Then you simply give students the URL address of the page which contains the list of available tests.
What is the difference between Practice and Actual tests?
When students complete a Practice test, they will see their score and the correct answers shown for each question. Results of Practice tests are not saved. When an Actual test is completed, they will see their final score and the results of the test will be automatically saved in a database in the server.
How does the teacher/administrator obtain and view the test results?
Test results can be downloaded from the main program. They will be displayed in the form of a spreadsheet which can optionally be exported to an Excel worksheet. Clicking on a student’s row in the spreadsheet shows the complete test as answered by the student.
What prevents a student from re-taking the same test?
When a student attempts to open an Actual test, they must enter their name and an ID number. The program checks whether that student has previously saved that test. If so, they are not permitted to take the test. Although a student can attempt to change their name slightly it will be obvious to the teacher since the date and time when the test was taken are recorded.
How do I create the files for students to take tests?
After you create and save a test, you can choose to save the test in a special format called Student Test Files. The question answers in these files are encrypted. Student Test Files can be saved as Practice tests or Actual tests.
What is the difference between Practice and Actual tests?
When students take a Practice test, they are not allowed to move to the next question until they get the current question answered correctly. Optional audible sounds can be played signalling correct or incorrect answers, allowing the teacher to help students that are having difficulties. Practice test results are not saved. When an Actual test is taken, the entire test must be completed without the students knowing whether their answers are correct. When they press a button to indicate that they have completed the test, they will see their final score and the results of the test will be automatically saved in the server computer.
Can the Classroom Network version be used in classrooms that are not networked?
Yes. This would be done by saving the Student Test Files on a removable disk and manually entering the test files into each student computer. Test results would be saved to the removable disk.

When Student Test Files are saved, you specify a path where test results are to be saved. This should be a password-protected location in the server computer.
